BENGALURU: In a classic case of the fence eating the crop, a Hoysala patrol squad was chased by some alert citizens when the policemen were allegedly extorting money from shopkeepers. However, it was not immediately known when or where the incident occurred in the city.

It is alleged that Hoysala patrol vehicle police were collecting money from outlets during duty hours. They were caught red-handed by some citizens. But, on seeing people coming and capturing videos, the patrol squad escaped in their Hoysala vehicle.

In the video, it can be seen that some citizens even chased the patrol vehicle for some distance shouting “police kalla, police kalla” (police thief) in a bid to stop the car, but the cops sped away. Netizens tagged the video to Bengaluru City police on ‘X’ and the police are now checking the footage to ascertain where the incident took place and who were on duty at that time.
