BENGALURU: A 25-year-old housewife committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in Kempegowda Nagar, Byadarahalli, on Wednesday, fed up with her husband’s affairs and gambling addiction. The deceased has been identified as Ranjitha and her husband is Kishore.

Ranjitha’s brother filed a complaint against Kishore alleging that he had extramarital affairs with two other women. The complaint also accused Kishore and the two women of harassing Ranjitha, leading to her suicide. The Byadarahalli police have filed an FIR and are investigating the matter.

According to the complaint, Kishore had affairs with two women and would often bring them home, leading to frequent fights and harassment. He is also addicted to gambling, it said.

Ranjitha had eloped with Kishore in February 2018 and got married. After she had a child, she would call her family occasionally and informed them about Kishore’s gambling addiction. Ranjitha had sought her brother’s help, who go them a house in Magadi and also paid off a loan taken from their uncle. The brother even bought an autorickshaw for Kishore.

However, Kishore’s addiction to betting and his illicit relationships with other women caused problems in their marriage. Kishore was not happy with his wife and started torturing her for money. Ranjatha claimed that he had assaulted her to get money. He would also borrow money from lenders and harass Ranjitha for repayment. The moneylenders would arrive at their house and harass her, the complaint stated.

Despite Ranjitha’s family helping the couple by providing them with a house and an autorickshaw, Kishore continued harassing her. He would torture her physically and mentally every time, demanding money. The complaint also mentions that Kishore took a house on rent for his two girlfriends next to his residence. The Byadarahalli police have registered a case against 10 people, including Kishore and his two girlfriends.
