KARWAR: A LPG gas cylinder exploded while cooking and household items were completely gutted at Nandanagadda in Karwar taluk of Uttara Kannada district on Thursday.
The gas cylinder exploded in the house of Nilesh Talekar. Many household items including furniture, a fridge, washing machine and cooking utensils, were burnt due to the blast. It is estimated that articles worth over Rs 8 lakh were damaged in this incident.
There was no loss of life from the explosion, though the house owner Nilesh Talekar sustained injuries. On getting information about the incident, fire tenders immediately reached the spot and extinguished the fire.
