MANGALURU: With heavy rain lashing the coastal district, there has been considerable damage to properties. Though a red alert has been sounded, the intensity of rain has subsided. However, rivers are running full while strong tides are being witnessed along the coast.

At Battapady in Ullal, a house collapsed after it was hit by waves. But since the authorities had evacuated the residents, there was no loss of life. In a video, a huge wave can be seen hitting the walls of the house, bringing it down, even as two young women run for safety.

At Soojikallugudda in Kavoor, six houses face danger after a landslip occurred where there are about 25 houses. The occupants of the six houses have now been shifted to safety. The landslip occurred behind a construction site due to the continuous rain over the last two days. The houses that face danger are at an elavation from the construction site.
