Hostel students stage protest over lack of proper food arrangement, water and power shortage

BIDAR: Inmates of the post-matric hostel for backward class students near Naubad here staged a protest over food not being provided properly to them, on Wednesday night.

They also complained that they were facing problems with water and electricity supply. Members of the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP) also joined the protest in front of the hostel for some time.

On receiving information, the taluk officials concerned rushed to the hostel to pacify the students, but were taken to task by the hostelites. The complained that the hostel warden had not visited for more than two months and that they were not being provided proper food. The students also complained about the lack of proper water and power supply.

The officials promised that proper food will be ensured and that all other basic amenities will also be provided. Only then did the hostelers withdraw their protest.
