BALLARI: Hosapete Congress MLA H R Gaviyappa has yet again raised the issue of lack of funds for development works due to the party’s guarantee schemes. He also felt that at least two of the guarantee schemes should be scrapped.
Speaking at a ground-breaking ceremony at Ippitheri-Magani village in Hosapete taluk on Monday, lamented that poor people are not able to get houses under the Ashraya scheme and felt that if at least two of the guarantee schemes are scrapped, funds will be available for other development works.

“Because of the guarantee schemes, it has become difficult to allot houses to the poor. We are planning to approach the Chief Minister to discuss about scrapping 2-3 guarantee schemes like the free travel, which are not necessary, and instead provide housing. The decision is left to the CM and we will go by whatever decision he takes. As far as possible, the government is making alternative arrangements. This year, the government is raising Rs 40,000 crore from different sources for development works. Let us support the Chief Minister in this endeavor”, he said.

The MLA had earlier too raised the issue of lack of funds for development works in the district and had said that he is not able to take up any work in his constituency. “I am unable to answer people from my constituency. With just Rs 10 crore, how can I do anything?”, he had said.
