BENGALURU: A techie with a well-known firm lost Rs 30 lakh and his job after he got honeytrapped by a woman whom he came to know through a friend. He has since lost his job and his domestic life is in disarray.
The techie, who was with a reputed company drawing a fat paycheck, is married and has two children. He is a resident of Brindavan Layout in Horamavu. He came in contact with a woman, a resident of Challaghatta in Madiwala, through a friend. She slowly got close to him and even took some selfies and videos with him. Later on, she started taking money from him on the pretext of ill health.
As days passed, the woman, along with three others, started demanding lakhs from him and when he refused to pay, she used to threaten to post their photos and videos on social media. If he refused, she would again threaten to send their photos and videos to his wife. She managed to squeeze Rs 30 lakh out of him and continued to torment the techie.
When he refused to pay up, she blackmailed him that she would go to the police. She also sent their pictures to where he was working as a result of which he lost his job. She also sent them to his wife following which the wife moved out of the house.
Fed up with the torment, the techie lodged a complaint with the Ramamurthy Nagar police against the woman and three of her associates. “My life is in tatters and others should not fall victim to such organised traps. People should be made aware of such gangs”, he noted in his complaint.
