Holy Cross on private land near Shirwa found broken, complaint lodged

The Holy Cross was broken on February 19.

UDUPI: A Holy Cross, put up on a plot of vacant private land at Kuduremale in Kattingeri village of Kaup taluk under Shirwa police station limits, was found to be broken by miscreants on February 19. The land belongs to one Valerian Lobo and the Holy Cross was installed about 30 years ago.

According to Prashant Jattana, state president of the Bharatiya Chraista Okkoota, about 30 families living in the area, offer prayers at the Holy Cross during Lent season. A complaint has been lodged by one Flavin at the Shirwa police station.

Prashant said some families have been offering prayers at the Holy Cross from the time it was installed and said that its destruction by miscreants was an attempt to disturb the peace between different communities. The Okkoota demands the immediate arrest of the culprits and the strictest punishment under law, he asserted.
