BENGALURU: History-sheeter Sunil alias ‘Silent’ Sunil, who is involved in the more than 30 cases, created a stir after he showed up at a blood camp organised by BJP in Chamarajpet on Sunday. Following this, several questions are being raised in politics circles.
A few days ago, the police raided the houses of more than 80 history-sheeters in Bangaluru. At that time, 23 rowdies were detained and warned. The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police had then said that ‘Silent’ Sunil, Wilson Garden Naga, Cycle Ravi, Onte Rohit, Kadubeesanahalli Rohit, Kadubeesanahalli Loki were not at home. On Sunday, Sunil appeared at a public event where BJP leaders were present. But the police did nothing and Sunil too did not bother about the police presence.
‘Silent’ Sunil even shared the stage with Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, Bengaluru Central MP P C Mohan, MLA Uday Garudachar and former BJP corporator N R Ramesh. After the event, Sunil was even spotted travelling with MLA Uday Garudachar after the event.
After the issue caused much embarrassment for the party, Uday Garudachar claimed, “When I went to the programme, no rowdy elements were present. I was invited for the blood donation camp and I came out after giving a message. I didn’t go there because someone had organised it. He even denied dropping off Sunil after the event.
When reporters pointed out that Silent Sunil was seated right beside him on the dais, the MLA said, “How am I to know who he is? I know a person by the name Sunil, but how will I know he is Silent Sunil. I just know him by face, I don’t know about his antecedents. I didn’t know he’s a history-sheeter.”
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Pratap Reddy said they keep an eye on rowdies as per the Police Manual. “If there is a court summons or warrant pending against any history-sheeter, we bring them in and take further action. The CCB had conducted raids recently. I have asked the Joint Commissioner of Police to submit a report about Sunday’s incident and if there is anything adverse, we will take action”.
When questioned if there were any pending warrants against Silent Sunil, the police chief said that as far as his understanding goes, there were no warrants against him.
On the presence of other rowdy elements at the blood donation camp, Pratap Reddy said, “There is no restriction on the movement of people. We are looking into the issue”.
