Hindu Janajagruthi Samiti calls for boycotting halal products in Gadag

GADAG: Women activists of the Hindu Janajagruthi Samiti staged a protest to call for boycotting halal-certified products and in support of celebrating a halal-free Deepavali, here on Thursday.

The protest was held at the Mahatma Gandhi Circle in the city and the activists raised slogans against halal meat and halal-certified products.

The protesters said that Hindus live in Hindustan and questioned why they needed halal-certified products. “Let’s celebrate halal-free Deepavali in the interest of national security”, they said.

The protesters raises slogans saying, “Halal Hatao, Desh Bachao” and “Being Hindus, why do we need halal? Boycott halal goods”, among others.

The halal-free Deepavali campaign, which  was restricted to Bengaluru in the initial days, has now extended to Gadag district.
