MANGALURU: The High Court of Karnataka has granted an interim stay on the externment order on Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi and issued a notice to the district authorities while scheduling the next hearing scheduled for October 8.

Thimarodi had approached the High Court challenging his externment order from Dakshina Kannada district to Raichur district’s Manvi police station limits for a year. His anticipatory bail application will be heard on October 4. He faces arrest warrants due to his absence from interrogations in an illegal arms case.

Meanwhile, the SIT has intensified its investigation into the alleged Dharmasthala mass burial case. The SIT has questioned staffer of a service apartment in Bengaluru’s Tindlu area, SB Mansion, where the accused Chinnaiah, was previously staying.

The police are looking to identify individuals who stayed at the service apartment, the duration of their stay, and who booked the rooms. The SIT has also summoned four former presidents of the Dharmasthala gram panchayat for questioning in connection with cases of unnatural deaths.
