BENGALURU: The High Court of Karnataka has adjourned the hearing of petitions related to the stampede that claimed 11 RCB fans outside Chinnaswamy Stadium to 2.30 pm on June 12. The court directed the authorities to submit a report in a sealed cover by Thursday.
The high court had registered a suo motu case in the aftermath of the stampede and court will decide on it after receiving the government’s response. The case is being heard by a division bench comprising Justices V Kameshwara Rao and CM Joshi. Several interim applications have also been filed, seeking various directions.
The Advocate General, Shashi Kiran Shetty, requested time till June 16 to submit the report, but the court directed him to submit it by June 12. The court questioned the government for not submitting the report yet and directed the authorities to submit the report on the next date of hearing.
The AG stated that the government had ordered a judicial inquiry and a magisterial inquiry, and the reports would be submitted. He requested time, stating that the government had already decided on the inquiry, and there should be no controversy before that, he said.
