BENGALURU: The trail of destruction aside, the heavy rain that has lashed the city over the last few days has had its effect on Metro work. Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) officials admitted that work on the second and third phases have been delayed by three to four months due to rain.

The piling and drilling works have been delayed for around five months, and the depot works in areas like Anjanapura, Kothanur and Whitefield have been stopped due to heavy rain that has been lashing the city.

Anjum Parvez, managing director of BMRCL.

“The piling work during underground work is very difficult. The work has been delayed due to rain in the last five months. If it rains heavily, we cannot continue with our work. Work on depots is going on in many places. It is slowing down on Airport Road and Outer Ring Road. We are three to four months behind in the work,” said Anjum Parvez, managing director of BMRCL.
