Heavy rain causes two houses to collapse in Sakleshpur taluk

Incessant rain has caused much damage in Malnad region.

HASSAN: Incessant rain has been pounding the Malnad region, throwing normal life out of gear. At Attihalli village in Sakleshpur taluk, a house collapsed due to strong winds and rain, leaving the family homeless.

The house belonged to Lalitha and Subramanya and the woman was lucky to escape alive. However, all the household items were damaged and buried in the debris. Lalitha has sought compensation for the loss suffered.

At Byakaravalli, a portion of the house belonging to one Dayananda collapsed in the early hours on Wednesday, damaging household articles. Luckily, no one was inside the house at that time. Dayananda, who works as a mechanic, informed the gram panchayat about the house collapse and has sought adequate compensation.

Tree falls were reported at many places.

At Deenahalli, a lorry transporting coffee seeds got stuck in slush. The truck had to be offloaded and was pulled out of the slush by an excavator.
