CHAMARAJANAGAR, MYSURU, TUMAKURU: With hours to go for the counting of votes for the Karnataka Assembly election to beging, instances of heavy betting on probable winning candidates are coming to light. The wagers include everything from cash to farm lands.
In Gundlupet, a video went viral on Thursday where some people can be heard saying they are wagering Rs 1 crore on the BJP candidate’s win and other betting Rs 3 lakh on the Congress candidate. Now, another video has emerged wherein some people from Mallayyanapura village in Gundlupet taluk can been seen saying that they are betting 3 acres of, Rs 70 lakh on the Congress candidate. Those involved in the betting are being offered one scooter and a Toyota Innova car for free.
In Periyapatna of Mysuru district, Congress leader Yogesh Gowda has wagered 1 acre and 37 guntas of land hoping for a Congress win. A video of him placing the bet has now gone viral. On Thursday, another video had emerged from K R Nagar taluk where some people could be seen with bundles of cash amounting to Rs 2 lakh placing bets on Congress candidate D Ravishankar’s win.
At Cheelanahalli in Madhugiri taluk of Tumakuru district, Congress workers were openly challenging JD(S) workers to wagers, promising Rs 1 lakh against Rs 80,000 while claiming that Congress K N Rajanna will win.
