BENGALURU: The Health Department has issued a public advisory in view of the heat wave as the temperatures have increased in many parts of the state.

Due to the rise in temperature, Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar has suggested some precautionary measures to prevent health problems during the summer season.
Health issues that may occur due to rise in temperature
- Hyperthermia
- Heat stroke
- Severe dehydration
- Fever
- If untreated, heatstroke can lead to organ failure, coma or death
- Heat waves have also resulted in epidemics of chronic kidney disease (CKD)
Precautions suggested by Health department in view of heat wave
- Do not step out between 12 pm to 3 pm unless necessary. Take precautions like wearing a cap, carrying an umbrella.
- Consume fruits and vegetables.
- Drink water frequently, even if you are not thirsty, and while travelling.
- Wear cotton clothes.
- Keep windows of houses open as much as possible.
- Ensure ventilation in the kitchen.
- People working outside should drink water every 20 minutes even if they are not thirsty.
- Do not keep children, elderly people or pets inside the car and lock it from outside.
- Avoid consumption of tea, coffee and alcohol during summer season.
- Pregnant women, children, workers working in the sun, and car drivers should be careful.
