Headmaster of Veda learning residential school, who assaulted student, sent to jail

CHITRADURGA: The police have arrested Veeresh Hiremath, the headmaster at a residential Veda learning school, for physically assaulting a student for calling his parents using someone else’s mobile.

A video of the assault went viral, leading to Veeresh’s arrest in Kalaburagi. He was produced before a magistrate late on Tuesday night and was remanded to judicial custody for two days, after which they sent him to Chitradurga jail.

The Chitradurga District Commissioner, Venkatesh, has suspended Veeresh Hiremath from his position. The incident occurred at the Veda learning school, affiliated with the Guru Tippeswamy Temple, where Veeresh was seen pulling and assaulting the student to the ground and beating him mercilessly. On social media, the video sparked widespread outrage.
