RAMANAGAR: The Karnataka High Court has granted conditional bail to five accused, including Puneeth Kerehalli of the Rashtra Rakshana team, in connection with the suspicious death of Idris Pasha, who was transporting cattle in his vehicle.
After the hearing on the three petitions filed separately by the accused, Justice M G Uma granted bail to the accused Puneeth Kerehalli, Gopi, Suresh, Pavan Kumar and ANP Lingappa.
Senior advocate Arun Shyam, who represented the petitioners during the bail hearing, said there was only scratch marks on the body of Idris Pasha, and there is no information about serious injuries, as mentioned in the post-mortem report. It is mentioned in the FIR that the case took place within 100 meters of Sathanur police station.
The advocate for the accused said the police should have been informed about the incident immediately after the incident. Now, the accused were taken into custody and investigation has been completed all evidence procured and their custody is not needed. Therefore, he appealed the bench to grant bail. The court issued conditional bail, after the hearing.
On March 31, Puneeth Kerehalli and his accomplices intercepted a cattle transporting vehicle near Sathanur police station, which was plying from Mandya to Bengaluru. It was alleged that they assaulted the people who were in the vehicle.
A day after the incident, in the morning of April 1, Idris Pasha’s body was found under suspicious circumstances just 100 meters away from the incident site.
Pasha’s brother Yunus Pasha had complained against Puneet and his accomplices, that they had beaten his brother to death. Based on the complaint, a case was registered against the accused under Sections 302, 324, 341, 504, 506 and 34 of IPC at Sathanur police station and the the accused were arrested from Rajasthan on April 5.
