HASSAN: With incessant rain lashing the Malnad region over the last one week, several landslides have occurred along the Shiradi Ghat while several houses have also been damaged. On Thursday, district in-charge secretary Khusbhoo Goel Chowdhary visited the affected areas like Anemahal and Doddatappalu in Sakleshpur taluk.
The secretary was accompanied by district Deputy Commissioner C Satyabhama, Assistant Commissioner Shruthi and police officials. After the inspection, the officials held a meeting at the inspection bungalow in Sakleshpur. Kushboo Goel also visited the site of a wall collapse in Kushalnagar taluk earlier.
The National Highway-75 along Shiradi Ghat has witnessed several landslides over the last few days due to continuous rain. The ongoing four-laning work is only adding to the woes of motorists.
Places like Hassan, Arkalgud, Alur, Sakleshpur and Belur have witnessed continous rain since Wednesday evening, disrupting normal life. Students and those heading for work, and also other motorists were put to hardship.
