CHITRADURGA: A first-year BSc student ended her life by jumping off the third floor of her college building, unable to bear mental harassment from a youth, on Friday. The deceased was identified as Prema (18), a student of Chitra Don Bosco College here.

Prema had befriended Tarun when they were studying at the Mahesh PU College in the city. Tarun had failed his PUC II examination while Prema had joined Chitra Don Bosco college. The two, however, continued to remain in touch on WhatsApp and he was allegedly pestering her to have a relationship with him.

On Thursday, Prema told her parents about the constant mental harassment and her father assured her he would look into the matter and convinced her to go to college. On Friday, around 8.55 am, Prema climbed over the parapet on the third floor corridor of her college and jumped to her death. The act was caught on a CCTV camera installed in the college.
