BENGALURU: Two months after the Assembly polls results, the state BJP, which was voted out of power, is yet to elect the leader of the opposition, both in the Assembly and Council.
The budget session currently under way, is already halfway through, it doesn’t seem like the will be electing its leaders anytime soon. For now, former CM Basavaraj Bommai is leading the BJP in the Assembly while former miniter Kota Srinivasa Poojary is leading the BJP charge in the Council.
The party top bosses in Delhi too have remained quiet on the issue even after collecting opinion from the state leaders and it now seems that the state unit is no longer looking for directions from the central leadership, at least for now.
For their part, the state leaders are putting up a united front, both inside and outside the legislature, and even looking at organising the party. This, political watchers, feel may be the BJP’s way to deflect attention from the fact that it has not been able to pick its leaders.
