HUBBALLI: An unknown hacker targeted Instagram accounts of some girls of a private college here and posted obscene pictures. Even as the police launched an investigation into the incident, an edited video is now doing the rounds on social media showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and some leader from Karnataka bowing to portraits of the erstwhile ruler of Srirangapatna, Tipu Sultan. The maker of the video has even thrown a challenge to catch him.
An unidentified hacker have alleged posted obscene photos of some girls students of a private college here which are now going viral. The accused is said to have hacked the accounts three months ago, edited the photos of the female students on Instagram and posted them on social media.
The college administration and the aggrieved students have filed a complaint at the CEN police station. After coming to know of this, the accused has been posting abuses against the complainants, and even warning who will be the next target. “My next target. Don’t think I have no photos. I have photos of your from three years ago”, the hacker wrote.
The posts are going viral on social media and the scared students are hesitant to come out of their homes. In the meantime, the police registered a case based on statement of the female students and DCP Gopal Byakod visited the private college and conducted preliminary investigation.
Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissioner Santosh Babu, briefing about the case, said, “We have registered a case on the basis of a complaint regarding the posts on Instagram. We have called the suspects to the police station and are interrogating them. We are also inquiring about the action taken by the college. The college should have informed us about the incident that happened three months ago. The accused knew everything as the students were talking in the college, so there is a suspicion that it was a student who is doing all this”.
Close on the heels of this, a provocative, edited video went viral on social media. The edited video shows Prime Minister Narendra Modi, UP CM Yogi Adityanath and other politicians bowing to Tipu Sultan with folded hands. The accused challenged the police to nab him and to unravel his motive.
The miscreant also put Tipu’s image on Indian currency. Now the social media posts have raised concern among students, parents and the public. The police have registered an FIR and formed a team of eight officers to conduct the investigation. They have also sent the video to the forensic lab to verify the footage.
