BENGALURU: A man who was running an upscale gym was caught by the police in his very first attempt at smuggling red sanders.
Kallegowda had opened a hi-tech gym and thought he will clear his loans by getting into red sanders smuggling. He had taken loans of Rs 27 lakh to set up the gym, but had suffered losses during the Covid-induced lockdown.
Under pressure from his creditors to clear the loans, he resorted to smuggling red sanders. However, he was caught by the Banaswadi police, who have also recovered red sanders worth lakhs from him.
