BENGALURU: The Health Department received the results of the sample protein powder test, used mostly in gyms, on Tuesday. The results show that more than 13 protein powders are unsafe for consumption.
The food safety and Health Department officials had visited gyms in many parts of the city. They had collected various samples of the protein powder from the gyms and sent them to the central lab for testing last month.
The Central Lab tests have shown that some of the gym protein powders contained harmful content that could damage the kidneys and liver. Out of 30 samples, more than 13 protein powders were reported as unsafe for consumption.
“Gyms using unapproved chemical protein powders will be labelled as unauthorised and action will be taken”, Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar had warned.
