Parvathi, the beneficiary, had saved up the Gruha Laxmi dole of Rs 2,000 per month to get the carving done. The door also has the words ‘Honourable Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’ and ‘Gruha Laxmi’ carved on it.

Parvathi’s wood carving door has been drawing curious villagers. “I spent Rs 35,000 on getting the carved door. My husband also supported me”, she said. Her husband Thippeswamy said, “The guarantee schemes of the Congress government have helped a lot of poor people. My wife had saved the money for 15 months”, he said.

Durgesh, the carpenter who carved the teak wood door, said it was a god-send opportunity for him to execute the work. “It took me about 3-4 days to complete the carving”, he said.
