BENGALURU: On the day the state unit of the Congress announced the Gruha Lakshmi Yojana for women heads of households, the BJP took potshots stating that the party had failed to keep its earlier promises where it is in power.

In a series of tweets the BJP said, “Forget women’s empowerment in the states where the Congress is in power, Priyanka Gandhi has not even questioned the crimes committed against women in those states. The promise of the Gruha Lakshmi Yojana is a continuation of its string of lies”, the party said. The Congress forgets its promises after the election, the BJP taunted.

The BJP said that the Congress had promised monthly pension of Rs 2,500 to unemployed young women, Rs 1,000 to widows, but did not pay anything. In Himachal Pradesh, the party promised Rs 1,500 aid to women aged between 18 and 60, but did not give  the benefit.

Likewise, in Rajasthan, the party promised Rs 3,500 per month to unemployed women and free education, but did not implement it, the BJP retorted.
