The wedding was to take place on Friday and the attack happened the previous day.

CHAMARAJANAGAR: A groom, who was to enter wedlock on Friday, was stabbed in the arm by a group of men on the day of the wedding reception on Thursday at Kollegal town. The attackers were allegedly led by his fiancée’s former boyfriend, Darshan, just hours before their wedding.

Ravish, a resident of Kunagalli village, and Nayana from Hosanagalli village, had been engaged for six months, and their wedding was scheduled to take place at the Venkateshwara Mahal in Kollegal town on Friday. The couple had planned a grand celebration, and the atmosphere was festive until the horrific incident occurred.

As Ravish was travelling to the wedding venue in a car with his relatives, a group of men in another car blocked their path near the MGSV College Road in Kollegal town. The attackers, allegedly led by Darshan, stabbed Ravish, attempting to kill him.

Arrangements for the reception had been made on Thursday.

Ravish’s family and friends claim that Darshan had been threatening the couple, warning them not to proceed with the wedding. Darshan had reportedly told Ravish, “If you marry her, I’ll kill you.” However, Ravish had brushed off the threats, thinking they were just a prank.

Nayana had reportedly told Ravish that she had broken up with Darshan after their engagement, but Darshan had refused to accept it. The police suspect that Darshan’s jealousy and anger led to the attack. Ravish is currently recovering in the hospital, with injuries to his arm. The wedding has been cancelled, and the festive atmosphere has turned sombre.

The police have launched an investigation and are searching for the attackers. Superintendent of Police Muthuraju M told the media on Friday, “A special team has been formed to track down the attackers. We have already identified the car which was used by them. The attack is likely due to jealousy over the wedding.
