RAMANAGARA: The 60-foot-tall Panchaloha statue of Goddess Chamundeshwari installed at the Chamundeshwari temple at Gowdagere in Channapatna taluk has earned a place in both the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records for being the only such statue anywhere in India and Asia.
The authorities of the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records handed over the recognition certificates to Dr Mallesh Guruji, the head of the Sri Kshetra Gowdagere Sri Chamundeshwari Temple, on Sunday, bringing joy to devotees.
The temple is very popular among devotees not only from the state, but also from neighbouring states and abroad. The 60-foo-tall statue, which weighs about 35,000 kg, was cast from Panchaloha donated by devotees. It was unveiled on August 8, 2021 and draws a large number of pilgrims every day.
