BENGALURU: The Karnataka government has received an overwhelming response for the Kannada Rajyotsava Award, with nearly 1,200 applications submitted online and offline.
A committee headed by Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi will scrutinise the applications and select 69 awardees. Over 1,135 applications have been received through the Seva Sindhu portal and total 85+ applications were received physically. Some names for the award have been recommended by political leaders, organisations and party leaders.
It is said that there have been requests to give awards to former ministers, dignitaries and achievers from various fields. It is a big challenge for the government to select eleigible candidates amidst allegations of the award goes to undeserving persons.
