KOPPAL: An executive engineer, Girish, has reportedly violated rules by hosting his son’s engagement ceremony at the restricted TB Dam at Munirabad in Koppal taluk amid the heightened India-Pakistan tensions. The matter came to light a week after the ceremony was held.

The TB Dam was closed to the public and vehicular traffic from May 8 due to the tense situation along the India-Pakistan border. However, Girish went ahead with the engagement ceremony on May 10 at his residence near the Lake View area of the dam despite restrictions, and had invited hundreds of guests where food was served.

KSISF personnel conducted a drill at TB Dam.

A checkpost had been set up to prevent people from accessing the area behind the dam, but it appears that hundreds of people passed through the checkpoint to attend the ceremony. This incident has sparked outrage, with demands for action against Girish for violating the rules.

The Karnataka State Industrial Security Force had recently conducted a mock drill at the dam, making the rule violation even more significant. The incident has raised questions about accountability and adherence to rules, especially for those in positions of authority.
