BENGALURU: Following the death of 18 young people due to heart attacks in Hassan, the state government has formed a special committee to investigate the matter. The Health minister has directed the health department’s principal secretary to conduct an investigation or assessment with a team of 3-5 doctors.
The investigation team has been asked to submit a report within 10 days. Health Department Principal Secretary Harsh Gupta stated that a team of doctors will be sent to Hassan to conduct a thorough investigation.
Meanwhile, in Hassan district, three people have died of heart attacks in one day, causing panic among the local population. In a single day, a housewife, a professor and an employee have succumbed to heart attacks.
A housewife named Lepakshi (50) from Bylur town died of a heart attack. She had complained of feeling unwell in the morning and was rushed to the Taluk Hospital, where she was declared dead.
Muthaiah (58), an English professor at a government college, died of a heart attack in Holenarasipur. Muthaiah, a resident of Channarayapatna, had come to the college on Monday morning. He collapsed while drinking tea on the bypass road and was declared dead at the Taluk Hospital.
Kumar (57), a D-group employee at the taluk office in Channarayapatna, died of a heart attack. He had complained of chest pain at home and was rushed to a hospital where doctors said he was brought in dead. Kumar had a history of heart-related illness.
