BENGALURU: The government has formed a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the cases registered against Rajarajeshwari Nagar BJP MLA Munirathna Naidu. The MLA has been booked for issuing threats to a BBMP contractor, caste abuse and sexual assault on a woman.
The SIT will be headed by ADGP B K Singh and includes IGP Labhu Ram, SPs Sowmyalatha and Simon. The SIT can draw more officers as per requirement.

The police have filed two cases against Munirathna for threatening BBMP contractor Cheluvaraju and abusing him in the name of caste, at Vyalikaval police station, while a sexual assault case has been registered at the Kaggalipura police station in Magadi taluk. The sexual assault case was on Saturday transferred to the Yeshwantpur police station following which a fresh FIR was filed.
Meanwhile, Munirathna was produced before a court on Saturday which remanded him to 14 days in judicial custody till October 5.
