BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decided to submit a proposal to the government to exempt certain buildings from obtaining Occupancy Certificates (OC).

The proposal aims to exempt buildings with up to three floors and dimensions up to 1,200 square feet from OC requirements. This move is expected to benefit small and medium-sized plot owners in Bengaluru. The government is likely to approve the proposal, which will simplify the process of building homes for many residents.

In a related development, the government is set to finalize the creation of five municipal zones in Bengaluru, which will improve administration and development in the city. The zones will be North, Central, West, South, and East, each covering a specific number of assembly constituencies.

North Zone will cover five Assembly constituencies, Central Zone and West Zone will cover eight Assembly constituencies each, South Zone  and East Zone will cover six assembly constituencies each. The creation of these zones aims to enhance administrative efficiency, ensure equitable resource distribution, and improve citizen-centric governance in Bengaluru.
