Gold, cash stolen from two temples in separate cases

KALABURAGI, KOLAR: Thieves broke into the Chandralamba temple at Honagunta village in Shahabad taluk ane stole a gold pendant weighing 20 grams and Rs 20,000 in cash from the temple.

According to reports, 4-5 thieves broke into the temple at night while the priests were sleeping outside. The thieves stole the gold pendant and cash from the idol. The incident was captured on CCTV cameras. A case has been registered at the Shahabad police station in connection with the theft.

In Kolar district, thieves broke into Chowdeshwari temple at Toraganadoddi village of Bangarapet taluk, broke open the lock of the temple’s hundi (donation box) and stole the money. After taking the cash, the thieves threw away the hundi.

This is the second incident of theft at the temple in the past one week. Earlier, on October 18, the temple’s idol’s ornaments were stolen. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Bhoodikote police station.
