Glass pane of Namma Metro train door shatters, passengers unhurt; TBM Tunga makes breakthrough

The glass pane on the door shattered, but passengers were unhurt.

BENGALURU: Passengers on a Namma Metro train on the purple line had a lucky escape after a glass on the door shattered, a couple of days ago.

Some of the passengers were leaning on the door when the glass broke. If the shards of glass had fallen on other passengers sitting near the door, it could have caused injuries. But luckily, none of them were injured.

The train was stopped at the next station and the broken glass was removed by BMRCL staff, a passenger said in a self-made video.

Meanwhile, tunnel boring machine (TBM) Tunga, made a breakthrough today at Nagawara station’s Cut and Cover Shaft after tunnelling 936.6 mts.

The TBM started tunneling from Kadugondanahalli on February 2. In all nine TBMs are tunneling on the pink line between Gottigere and Nagawara. The TBMs together have tunnelled 20,992 mts and with Tunga achieving breakthrough, 98 per cent of tunelling work on the pink line is complete.
