DAVANAGERE: In a suspected case of jealousy, a final-year degree student slashed the face and neck of her lesbian partner with a paper cutter and then slit her own hand, here on Thursday evening. She has since been arrested while the other girl is recovering in hospital.

Sneha, a resident of Shanti Nagar here, is a final-year degree student while her partner Laasi, who hails from Kadur in Chikkamagalur taluk, has to clear one paper. Both are students of the same college.

Family members and others gathered outside the hospital.

Laasi and Sneha are long-time friends and were in a relationship. However, of late, Sneha was getting close to another girl and this angered Laasi.

Around 5.30 pm on Thursday, Laasi attacked Sneha with a paper cutter on her face and neck near the college hostel. She then cut her own hand too. Seeing them in a pool of blood, family members and other locals shifted them to the district hospital. Luckily, both are out of danger.
