BENGALURU: The city’s air quality is worsening, just like in Delhi. The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) now plans to monitor air quality by installing sensors at 85 metro stations, 55 BMTC depots, major roads and factories.
Air pollution is increasing in Bengaluru with air quality index (AQI) declining. To identify the causes, GBA and the Karnataka Pollution Control Board are installing sensors.
Possible causes include traffic, construction debris and other factors. An AQI of 0-50 is considered good. However, air pollution is rising in parts of Bengaluru with areas like Hebbal, Jayanagar, Nimhans, Central Silk Board, City Railway Station, Basaveshwara Nagar, Jigani, Kasturinagar and Peenya with AQI exceeding 100, causing concern.
