BENGALURU: The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) is planning to involve citizens in auditing its projects and works. The GBA Commissioner has decided to take the public along in this initiative, allowing them to review and provide feedback on the projects.
The GBA has been facing criticism for its projects and works, with allegations of poor quality and lack of transparency. To address these concerns, the authority has decided to involve the public in the auditing process, giving them the power to review and comment on the projects.
The public will be able to provide their opinions and suggestions on the GBA’s decisions, and the authority will take their feedback into consideration. This move is aimed at increasing transparency and accountability in the GBA’s functioning. The GBA will also be launching a programme called ‘Nadige’ (walk), where the Commissioner and other officials will walk with the public and discuss various issues related to the city’s development.

Bengaluru South Corporation Commissioner Ramesh K N said, “We are planning social audit of our works and we have already conducted some Nadige programmes with citizens and we will continue it. When we look at the work with th citizens, we can understand the problems better and also we will come to know how our officials are working. We can record such things and take corrective action”.
“We are also surveying trade licences and as per High Court orders, businesses cannot function on roads which are less than 40 feet wide. We have launched a survey and where citizens are inconvenienced, we will have to shut down such businesses”, he added.
The Bengaluru South Corporation has taken a significant step by deciding to involve the public in the planning and implementation of projects. The citizens will have the authority to audit the projects and provide feedback on the quality and implementation of the works.
The GBA’s decision to involve the public in its projects is expected to bring about more transparency and accountability in the authority’s functioning and ensure that the public’s voice is heard in the decision-making process.
