GBA proposes an Economic Development Agency to boost investment, development

BENGALURU: In recent days, industry leaders have expressed their dissatisfaction with the government over the state of Bengaluru’s infrastructure. They even had a dinner meeting with Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar where they discussed areas which need focus.

The Government of Karnataka (GBA) is now focusing on promoting the IT-BT sector for which the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) is planning to establish an Economic Development Agency to create business opportunities.

Netizens have been questioning the government about poor road conditions, lack of basic infrastructure and potholes. The government is now taking steps to create new plans to promote the IT-BT sector. By establishing an Economic Development Agency, it aims to support IT-BT and businesses by providing incentives and ensuring amenities.

Deputy CM D K Shivakumar also offered to hold a meeting with IT-BT businessmen. In the meantime, he also had a dinner meeting with Biocon chief Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw and businessman Mohandas Pai.

Now, the government has come up with a new plan to encourage the IT-BT sector. There is still a in the law to form an Economic Development Agency and the government is planning to set up a new agency under the GBA to look after the companies and industries in Bengaluru.

Maheshwar Rao, Chief Commissioner of GBA, stated that he will submit a proposal to the government to form such a committee to provide facilities in the areas where the companies are located and to provide them with the necessary facilities when starting new companies.
