BENGALURU: With three days to go for the Ganesha Chaturthi celebrations, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has cautioned organisers to distribute only prasadam certified by it at pandals.
The FSSAI has written to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) that FSSAI certification is must for prasadam distributed at any of the Ganesha pandals installed in the city to maintain the quality of food products and hygiene.
Organisers will now have to procure a certification from FSSAI apart from the permissions required from the police, BBMP, Bescom and other agencies. The FSSAI has also warned that action will be initiated against organisers who distribute prasadam without procuring a permit from it.
