Temples across the state witnessed a huge rush of devotees.

BENGALURU: People across the state celebrated Ganesha Chaturthi with fervour on Wednesday. Temples witnessed a huge rush of devotees while special dishes were prepared at homes for the occasion.

Ganesha Chaturthi celebrations were also held at the Public TV office for the 13th consecutive year with chairman H R Ranganath, CEO Arun Kumar, editor Divakar and all the staff participating in the puja. The celebrations go on for five days with the Ganesha idol immersion to be held on August 31.

At the Dodda Ganapathi temple on Bull Temple Road in Basavanagudi, there was a long queue of devotees right from early morning. Barricades had been erected to manage the rush. Devotees got to witness the decorations of the idol and the rituals.

At the Ganeshotsava in the city, the theme this year was Dharmasthala with a Ganesha idol shaped like Dharmadhikari Dr Veerendra Heggade. The display also shows masked man Chinnaiah, Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi, YouTuber Sameer M D, Sujatha Bhat behind bars. The message of ‘Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitah was also prominently displayed and coconuts brought from Dharmasthala were distributed.

In Malur town of Kolar district, arts teacher Dayanand had put up a display based on the theme of Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror attack in his house. The teacher has been installing Ganesha idols with various themes over the last 15 years.

In Bengaluru, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has made elaborate arrangements for visarjan at the major lakes and tanks. Permanent and temporary kalyanis have been created at 41 lakes and tanks covering all the wards.
