KOLAR: The Bangarpet police have arrested a gang of five, including four women, who had stolen 400 m of gold worth Rs 40 lakh from a jewellery store and recovered stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 31 lakh, Rs 7.5 lakh in cash and seized an autorickshaw.
On August 14, the gang had gone to A N Ramaiah Shetty Jewellers and Bankers on Yelemallappa Road in Bangarpet posing as customers. While the man escaped with a bag, the burqa-clad women had stolen Rs 40 lakh worth of gold. The theft was caught on CCTV cameras.
Based on CCTV footage, the police arrested Nagina, Navina, Mubin Taj, Zarina Taj their leader Nazeer Pasha who was driving the getaway autorickshaw. The Kolar Gold Fields Superintendent of Police has applauded the Bangarpet police for cracking the case within hours of the theft.
