Four temples broken into in Nagamangala village, valuables worth Rs 9 lakh stolen

MANDYA: Thieves broke into four temples in a single village and even took away the thali (mangalasutra) of the goddesses, at Devara Mallanayakanahalli in Nagamangala taluk on Tuesday night. The thefts came to light early on Wednesday morning.

The thieves broke into the temples of Pattaladamma, Masalikamma, Honnadevi and Lakshmidevi and took away the mangalasutras, two silver umbrellas, two face masks, kalash, other gold ornaments, all worth about Rs 9 lakh.

The incident has left the villagers shocked. A complaint has been filed at the Nagamangala Rural police station who have registered a case and taken up investigation.
