YADGIR: Four members of a family died after being struck by lightning in Jeenakeri Tanda in the district. The deceased were identified as Chenu (22), Kishan (30), Sumi Bai (30), and an unidentified child, all from the same family.
The family had gone to their farm to harvest onions and then they went into the Durgamma temple to get shelter from heavy rain and thunderstorms. However, all of a sudden, they were struck by lightning.
The victims were immediately rushed to a local hospital, but succumbed to their injuries. The critically injured child died en route to the hospital.The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Yadgir Rural police station. With this, the total number of lightning-related deaths increased to four.
