MYSURU: Four members of a family were found dead at an apartment at Vishweshwaraiah Layout in Mysuru on Monday, police said. They had left behind a note stating that no one was responsible for their deaths.

The deceased were identified as Chetan (45), his wife, Rupali ( 43), mother Priyamvadha (62) and son Kushal (15). Chetan’s body was found hanging while the bodies of the others were found in two different apartments in the same complex.

Based on preliminary investigation, a senior police officer said that the four people were found dead in two apartments in the same complex. Chetan was working in placement business, sending workers to Saudi Arabia. He had purchased the apartment in 2019. His son was studying in Class 10.

Chetan informed that his elder brother is abroad that they were ending their lives. Chetan may have fed poison to his family members and killed them before hanging himself, it is suspected. However, the exact reason behind their death is yet to be ascertained, Police Commissioner Seema Latkar said. Police have visited the spot and collected evidence.

In the death note, it was written that they were responsible for their own deaths due to financial problems. They had apologised and asked their friends and relatives not to trouble anyone.

Before committing suicide, Chetan had called his brother Bharat, who lives in the US, at 4 am and said they were committing suicide. Bharat had immediately contacted Chetan’s in-laws and asked them to rush to the apartment.

By the time they arrived, Chetan had already committed suicide. Bharat said that Chetan had also sent a message saying he had killed everyone and would also commit suicide.

The police have found that Chetan had first poisoned his wife and children and then tried to strangle them. Then he killed them by smothering the three with a pillow. After killing them, Chetan had also hanged himself.

The bodies of the four deceased were taken to the KR Hospital mortuary in three ambulances by the staff. A case has been registered at the Vidyaranyapuram police station and further investigation is under way.
