VIJAYAPURA: A day after two of the accused in a murder case were arrested after a shootout, the police have arrested four more accused on Wednesday. On Monday, the gang had brutally murdered Susheel Kale, an old associate of Bhagappa Harijan, a notorious gangster who was murdered in February last year.

On Tuesday, the police had arrested Akash Kallavvagol and Sudeep Bagali after a shootout on the outskirts of Vijayapura. On Wednesday, the police arrested Gautam Alamelakar, Narayan Jadhav, Basavaraj Munnal and Prajwal Halimani.

Police Superintendent Lakshman Nimbaragi on Thursday said a countrymade pistol, four live rounds of ammunition and three motorcycles were seized from the accused. “The murder took place at SS Complex on July 14 and the accused had escaped. Now, we have arrested six people in connection with the murder and once we get their custody, the motive will be revealed”, he said.

Police sources said the gang lay in wait for Susheel Kale on BLD Road who had gone to deposit money at the Amaravarshini Bank in SS Complex. As he came down from the first floor, Akash Kallavvagol opened fire at him, injuring him in the shoulder.

Footage from CCTV cameras show Susheel Kale rushing back to the bank with the gang on his heels. The assailants then attacked Susheel Kale with machetes and other sharp weapons and fled when Susheel Kale collapsed inside the bank.
