Four people, including two from Athani, drowned in the river.

CHIKKODI: Four people died after drowning in the Doodhganga river while washing clothes near the Bastawade bridge in Kagal taluk of Maharashtra on Friday evening. Of the four, two hailed from Athani in Belagavi district.

The four had visited Annura village for a temple fair. Locals pulled out three bodies, including that of two men, while a search was on for the other missing person.

Among the deceased, Reshma (34) and Yash hailed from Athani while Jitendra Lokare (36) and Savitha Amar Kamble (37) hailed from Rukadi vilage in Kolhapur district. The Kagal police have registered a case.
