Four held for stealing sheep in Lokapur; Rs 5.86 lakh cash, vehicle seized

The Lokapur police arrested four people for smuggling sheep and seized cash and a goods vehicle.

BAGALKOT: The Lokapur police have arrested four people on the charges of stealing sheep on Yadawad Road near Lokapur and recovered Rs 5,86,000 cash along with a Tata Ace vehicle, which was allegedly used for the transportation.

The arrested accused were identified as Yellappa Kilari (35) from Ramadurga in Belagavi district, Basappa (30) from Chikkodi, Sajid (21) from Belagavi and Hamid (43).

There were four complaints filed at Lokapur station. Based on the complaints, police started a search operation, led by Mudhol police inspector Ayyana Gowda. It is said that a few months ago, the accused had sold stolen sheep in Mudhol, Lokapur, Bilagi and in some parts of Kerur. Hamid was the dealer and hailed from Belagavi.

Bagalkot Superintendent of Police Jayaprakash visited Lokapur station. Further investigation is on.
