Four dead as pickup truck crashes into retaining wall of bridge, one injured

Four of the occupants died on the spot.

RAICHUR: Four people died on the spot after the pickup truck they were travelling in crashed into the retaining wall of a bridge near Amarapura Cross in Deodurg taluk on Friday. Another individual who was in the vehicle suffered serious injuries.

The deceased were identified as Nagaraj, Somu, Nagabhushan and Murali, hailing from Hindupur in Telangana. The injured driver Anand was admitted to the Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences.

The accident occurred when they were travelling to the Shahpur sheep fair from Hindupur to purchase sheep. They had started from Hindupur around 2.30 am and it is said that one of the other occupants was driving the pickup truck while the driver Anand was sleeping.

The Gabbur police visited the spot and shifted the bodied to RIMS for autopsy. A case has been registered and further investigation is under way.
