BENGALURU: The CCB police, who had formed two teams to look for Abhinava Halasree, who is an accused in the fraud case involving Hindu activist Chaitra Kundapur, had some of its men disguised as Sringeri temple priests.
After the police got information that Abhinava Halasree was heading to North India, CCB police personnel Shivakumar, Raghavendra, Suresh and Annappa dressed up as priests while they went around temples and mutts looking for the fleeing godman. Halasree had been absconding for eight days after switching off his mobile phone.
The four policemen visited may temple and mutt disguised as priests and performed special prayers. The policemen also went to Puri Jagannath temple in Odisha when they found Abhinava Halashree. He had said that he had come from Sringeri, and that he should do a special puja ahead of Ganesha festival.
Halasree immediately left the temple and booked a train ticket from Bhubaneswar in Odisha to Bhod Gaya in Bihar. He traveled by bus to Cuttack Railway Station, suspecting that the police might come to Bhubaneswar railway station, 25 km from there. By then, the CCB officers had informed the police at Cuttack railway station. The Odisha police arrested Halasree when he reached the Cuttack railway station.
The CCB police produced Halasree before a court in Bengaluru today morning secured 10-day custody of him and will question him. Meanwhile, there is much curiosity after his arrest as the main accused, Chaitra had said that big names will be revealed after the arrest of Abhinava Halasree.
